Synthetic Wicker

Boulevard uses PE (polyethylene) and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) material like Viro® and Reheau®, which are non-toxic and recyclable. Even when burned, it does not emit any toxic substances. It has high flexibility, tensile strength, and great hand-touch, which offer you unparalleled comfort and enjoyment.

Its durability is evidenced by weather resistance, (designed to be insensitive to temperatures ranging -30°C to 50°C ), and in particular, its highly tested ability to withstand UV rays for up to 3 years.

Textilene

Batyline® is highly preferred by most commercial projects due to its extreme durability and resistance to rotting and UV radiation, making it almost impossible to tear.

Frame

100% Virgin Aluminium frame is used for each outdoor furniture, making every single collection light but strong and rust-free.

All products are diligently selected from handpicked suppliers around the region as well as from Scandinavia and many of them are unique pieces made exclusively for Galanga Living or for the European market. The People Behind

Galanga Living was founded in 2007 by the two Danes Gitte Svarrer and Elsebeth D. Spangsberg who have both lived in Asia for many years.

Gitte Svarrer moved back to Denmark in 2009 after more than 20 years abroad. For the past 10 years Gitte has run her own agency company Basixx Living assisting large Scandinavian importers explore their production possibilities in Vietnam and Thailand.

Elsebeth has lived in Singapore since 1998. After working here for 3 years in marketing and sales she founded her company Tinderboxx that carries a range of childrens’ floor rugs and accessories. Elsebeth is a self-taught designer and has worked extensively with manufacturers in Thailand, China and Vietnam.

Since opening in 1996 as a small home business, Teak and Mahogany now boasts one of Singapore’s largest outdoor furniture showrooms where you can view over 700 products, spanning furniture, outdoor lamps & torches, custom-made cushions, barbeques, click-tile flooring, outdoor accessories and many more!

We are committed to looking after the environment and use only teak products which are produced from plantation teak from Indonesia, Viro® all-weather wicker that is 100% recyclable and non-toxic and finally, eco-designed & recyclable Batyline® products.

Our commitment to being an eco-friendly company extends with our membership with Trees4Trees™. A non-profit foundation which empowers local communities through partnership reforestation initiatives and education programmes.

Our tastes have evolved over the years, and the furniture range has expanded to include reclaimed wood furniture, as well as premium outdoor pieces including recycled teak and polymer wicker.

Since our inception, we have grown from a steady word-of-mouth fan base amongst friends and customers, to having our furniture pieces featured in beautiful house décor and prominent commercial spaces around Singapore.

Though the business has since moved to different premises, our practice of a personal touch has not changed. You, our customer, remain the most important part of our Journey.

Social responsibility and the environment

Refurbishing vintage furniture breathes new vitality into a classic piece, and recycling wood births furniture from eclectic sources such as old buildings, railway sleepers, fishing boats etc.

Some of our reclaimed wood collections are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world’s forests.

Journey East chooses furniture from partners who demonstrate fair trade practices and who endeavour to reduce their carbon footprint through eco-friendly practices such as 100% hand-made construction in furniture-making. We are also glad to have been instrumental in the development of the small tradespeople in Indonesia. Through our dealings with them, we have seen families learn to start small distribution networks, aiding the provision of education to their children, as well as improved living conditions.
